Twice-Stricken COVID Patient Has No Knowledge of the Pandemic

A 19-year-old man who was in a coma for 10 months and who had COVID twice during that time, woke up having no knowledge of the pandemic.

The young man suffered a brain injury in a car wreck. He’s waking up now and family members are having a difficult time explaining to him why they can’t visit him in his room. His mother was allowed in once, in December on his birthday, but she still had to wear full PPE gear and to maintain social distancing.

A spokesperson for the family said they do get to talk with him via video calls, but they’re not sure how to explain what’s been going on in the world for all the months he was asleep.
