By order of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as of February 1, 2021, anyone traveling within the U.S. must wear masks when they’re in a “conveyance” that is used for paid transportation.
That includes all vehicles and vessels on waterways, roads and in the air. Since the CDC has also reserved “the right to enforce through criminal penalties,” it’s only logical that local law enforcement will have to step in to become “mask cops” who will decide whether someone’s mask fits the CDC’s description of proper masks (no bandana, scarf, ski mask or balaclava) and whether or not it’s made of acceptable materials (no knitted, leather, vinyl or plastic) and properly fitted to your face.
The CDC came out with the new rule just one week after President Biden issued an executive order mandating masks on public transportation and all federal property.
