China Makes COVID-19 Anal Swabs Mandatory for Foreign Visitors

Testing hubs in Beijing and Shanghai airports will now begin administering COVID-19 anal swabs to all foreign visitors, as the government claims the tests are more reliable when done anally.

“Virus traces stay longer in fecal samples than they do in the nose or throat,” the New York Post said a Chinese respiratory medic explained. The Japanese government immediately asked for the anal tests to stop, after Japanese citizens complained to their embassy in China.

The Chinese government, on the other hand, insists the tests are science-based and will continue to administer them as part of their updated COVID laws and regulations.
