You may have heard that younger adults are the primary group behind the transmission of COVID-19; however, new research shows that people ages 35 to 49 may be the real spreaders of the virus.
The study from the U.K.’s Imperial College London shows that while a “majority of COVID-19 infections” originate from people between the ages of 20 and 49, those between the ages of 35 and 49 are responsible for 41.1% of new cases of the virus.
Researchers do not know exactly why the transmission rate of 35- to 49-year-olds is so high, but speculate that middle age adults are more mobile, have more contacts and move more than older and younger populations.
