The CDC is breaking down mask guidelines by weight now, with directions in a Twitter post for everyone with a weight problem to mask up. The post has a link to the CDC’s new webpage on obesity, race/ethnicity and COVID-19.
On the page, the CDC explains that obesity puts you at risk of severe illness from COVID. From tripling your risk of being hospitalized to impairing your immune function to lowering vaccine response if you get the vaccine, the dangers of being obese and having COVID are many, the CDC says.
Meanwhile, on Twitter, the CDC instructs overweight persons to “Wear a well-fitting mask, avoid crowds and poorly ventilated spaces, stay 6 feet apart from others, and get a vaccine when it’s available to you.”
