Schools in Concord, New Hampshire, were canceled Monday, March 22, 2021, after a flood of teachers and staff called in sick with reactions to the COVID vaccine they received Sunday.
School officials made the decision just shortly after 6:30 a.m. Monday, stating it was “due to the level of teacher absenteeism across the district.” According to Patch news, “School Superintendent Kathleen Murphy said the closure was more than just teachers, though — many staffers, including district office employees, also got shots Sunday and reported adverse reactions to them.”
The staff took the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Patch said a neighboring school district had also taken the vaccine Sunday, but their schools were already closed Monday for a preplanned teacher professional day.
