Norwegian Cruises Will Require All Crew and Passengers To Be Vaccinated

Summary by Cindy Olmstead

In what it dubs as its new “Sail Safe” program, Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that one part of its “multilayered set of health and safety protocols” will be mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations for both crew and passengers.

Everyone must be fully vaccinated at least two weeks before they sail; the rules will apply going forward through October 31, 2021. USA Today reported that Frank Del Rio, the company’s CEO, said the rule is an ironclad “one-two punch.” He credited the CDC for the idea of doing this, after the CDC said full vaccinated people can now travel.

"Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is simply taking a cue from the CDC and putting together a comprehensive, robust, scientific-based plan that allows us to operate just like airlines are operating, casinos, resorts, theme parks, ballparks are now operating," Del Rio said.
