If the controversy over vaccine passports and privacy rights weren’t enough, there’s a new idea posed by the Pentagon that goes even further: microchips implanted in your body to detect COVID-19 in your blood.
The chip, which is engineered to continuously monitor your blood, can detect infection even if a person has no symptoms. If the virus is discovered, the chip then can be used to help filter your blood of the virus while you’re hooked up to a dialysis machine. The filter has already been authorized by the FDA for emergency use on 300 critically ill patients.
Officials said the chip would function as a “check engine” light and is not meant to track your every move.
