Two young Texas entrepreneurs ages 10 and 8 ran afoul with the law for selling eggs from their chickens to their neighbors. The little girls were making about $70 a week when the city of Bulverde, Texas, decided they were running a business in a residential district.
Apparently, someone who didn’t think kindly of their enterprise had complained. The city found that it isn’t illegal to keep the chickens; it’s just against city ordinances to sell the eggs.
Their father said they would stop so they could stay out of trouble with the city, but he was only trying to help them help their neighbors during the big Texas freeze, and to earn a little extra money while learning about banking and savings accounts.
