DIY if Your Doctor Won’t Report Vaccine Reactions to VAERS

Did you know the federal government has set up a special department where your doctor is supposed to report your adverse reactions to a vaccine? It’s called the Vaccine Adverse Reporting System (VAERS) and health providers are required by federal law to file a report whenever you have an adverse reaction.

Unfortunately, doctors don’t always do that — and sometimes even refuse to, and there are no legal sanctions against them if they don’t report it. In fact, studies show that less than 1% of vaccine reactions are ever reported to VAERS.

“The result is that 99 percent of vaccine reactions, including injuries and deaths, which are taking place every day among the highly-vaccinated U.S. population, go unreported,” says Barbara Loe Fisher, co-founder and president of the National Vaccine Information Center.

The good news is that you can make the report yourself. This is especially important to know right now as the new COVID-19 vaccines roll out. Besides filing your own claim, you can also help by reminding medical workers giving the vaccines to be sure and file reaction reports with VAERS.

To file your own report, go to https://vaers.hhs.gov/reportevent.html and follow the instructions provided.
