No Jab, No Phone: Unvaccinated to Have SIM Cards Blocked

In a move that steps up the game to cutting COVID unvaccinated people off from the rest of the world, the Punjab government in Pakistan said it will disable the phones of anyone who refuses the shot.

RT news said military officials made the decision jointly with “high-ranking” civil officers. The government will give citizens a timeline in which to get vaccinated before turning off the SIM cards. They said they are enjoining the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority to help them carry out the plan.

Authorities also said that banning people from parks, restaurants and malls are another possibility; in neighboring province Sindh, authorities said they would “stop the salaries of government employees who refuse to receive the jab.”
