WHO Says Don’t Vaccinate Children

In a new move, the World Health Organization has revised its recommendations, saying “children should not be vaccinated for the moment.” The stunning announcement showed up o the WHO website June 21, 2021, flying under news media radar with the generic headline, “COVID-19 Advice for the Public: Getting Vaccinated.”

About halfway down the page in boldface type, it gave the short statement “children should not be vaccinated for the moment,” then added “There is not yet enough evidence on the use of vaccines against COVID-19 in children to make recommendations for children to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Children and adolescents tend to have milder disease compared to adults. However, children should continue to have the recommended childhood vaccines.”

The WHO did not define what ages it considers “children.” However, the CDC uses ages 18 and under for its vaccine guidelines for children.

No explanation was given on the WHO’s new policy. Other recommendations include not getting the second vaccine if you have a severe allergic response to the first dose and not taking painkillers before the vaccine, since “it is not known how painkillers may affect how well the vaccine works.”

The WHO still recommends social distancing of at least 1 meter (about 3 feet), wearing a mask, washing your hands, covering coughs and sneezes and making sure that insides spaces are well-ventilated.
