Reduce Migraines by Eating More Fish Fats and Trashing the Veggie Oils

Do you suffer from migraine headaches? A recent study shows migraine sufferers who give up vegetable oils and consume more fatty fish are able to reduce the severity and frequency of migraines through diet alone.

A diet higher in omega-3 fatty acids, found in fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, herring, lake trout, sardines and albacore tuna, helped study participants who were having frequent migraines — defined as having an average of more than 16 days per month — to reduce the number of headaches as well as lower pain levels.

Scientists found that among three study groups consuming three different diets, the diet lower in vegetable oil and higher in fatty fish produced between 30% and 40% reductions in total headache hours per day and overall headache days per month, compared to the others.  That group also experienced lower levels of pain, according to study results.
