Sunscreens With Cancer-Causing Chemical Recalled by Johnson & Johnson

Due to a cancer-causing chemical found in sunscreens marketed by New Jersey-based Johnson & Johnson, the company has recalled five Neutrogena and Aveeno brand sunscreen products.

Testing showed low levels of benzene — a carcinogen that is known to cause cancer — present in the sunscreens. A spokesperson for J&J said that benzene is not an ingredient in its sunscreen products and the company is investigating the cause of the contamination.

Recalled products include Neutrogena Beach Defense, Neutrogena Cool Dry Sport, Neutrogena Invisible Daily defense, Neutrogena Ultra Sheer and Aveeno Protect + Refresh.
