Fort Wayne Clinic Refuses Treatment to COVID-Unvaxxed Child

A nurse practitioner at RediMed, a walk-in clinic in Fort Wayne, Indiana, diagnosed a child with sinusitis, bronchitis and an ear infection and then refused to offer treatment to the child because the child hadn’t had the COVID-19 shot.

The child’s mother took a video of the encounter. In it, an unidentified person wearing scrubs threatens to call security on the mother and attempts to take her phone away as she records the altercation. “What you’re telling me is my son has an infection and now you’re unwilling to treat him?” the woman says on the video.

The video doesn’t specify what age the child is but, currently, U.S. children must be at least 12-years-old to get a COVID-19 shot. An online search for RediMed-Northeast in Fort Wayne reverts to the Lutheran Health Network website.

“At Lutheran Health Network's Urgent Care and Walk-In clinics, we believe in providing walk-in health care that’s fast, effective and compassionate,” the website says. Nothing on the site indicates they refuse to treat unvaccinated patients.
