Most people familiar with Dr. Mercola’s website and newsletter are aware that he also has a pet website, healthypets.mercola.com, which features fun animal photos and stories, as well as animal health articles.
The pet site is run by veterinarian Dr. Karen Becker, and she chooses the content for it, including the “cute animals” that New York Times reporter Davey Alba is concerned about. “We report that followers are drawn in by this kind of heartwarming content, then they are directed to paid subscriptions or other products,” Alba complains.
The thing is, all Mercola newsletters, including Becker’s pet newsletters, are free, and when you click on the article titles or photos, you are directed to those articles, not to paid subscriptions or products.
