With the help of Big Tech, the U.S. government’s clamp-down on free speech and its censorship of citizens’ Constitutional rights is pushing the U.S. closer to working like China’s social credit system.
“It’s that integration of the government and big tech companies to police speech that I think is troubling and very evocative of the coming totalitarianism,” Kara Frederick, a former Facebook intel analyst and a research fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation, said in an interview with The Epoch Times TV program, “American Thought Leaders.”
One example she used as to how the government is inching toward totalitarianism was the Biden administration’s vilifying of a dozen persons — including Dr. Mercola — that the administration has erroneously been pointing at as spreading “misinformation.” Biden is calling for Big Tech’s help in squashing the social media presence of these persons, even though Facebook itself has debunked the list.
“This is becoming pervasive and big tech companies are the willing agents for the government to have really a heavy hand on the American people,” Frederick said. “So absolutely, this is a coming totalitarianism, these practices are, frankly, mirroring that of what China does in the social credit system,” she continued. “You have to remember that [it] started with private companies as well and specific provinces in the financial sector.
“So I think it’s extremely important for Americans to get their guards up and recognize what’s happening as it’s happening today.”
