Pfizer, maker of one of the COVID-19 mRNA shots, is starting to distance itself from the vaccine, according to Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla.
Not only that, Bourla says that initially he was reluctant to use the mRNA technology, rather than the normal route for creating vaccines. It was “counterintuitive” to use the yet-unproven mode of vaccination, he says, as the company had only been working on the technology for two years before the pandemic started.
Bourla adds that he was surprised when “they” came to him and suggested this technology be used. “They came and they were very, very convinced this is the right way to go,” he says. Yet, he did what the unnamed “they” told him to do, and now even though he was skeptical of it at first, he wants a fourth dose.
Is his contradictory behavior simply a move to make stockholders happy?
