Magnetic slime that looks like custard but works like a robot could soon be one of the tools doctors use to retrieve foreign objects and other substances from your body.
Even though it has to enter your body to do its job, the slime is described in the inventors’ journal abstract as “noninvasive.”
“The proposed slime robot implements various functions, including grasping solid objects, swallowing and transporting harmful things, human motion monitoring, and circuit switching and repair,” the research article said. “This study proposes the design of novel soft-bodied robots and enhances their future applications in biomedical, electronic, and other fields.”
