Now that states have let up on the lockdowns and most have dropped mask mandates, a retrospective study shows that of all the states, Florida handled the pandemic among the best, while New York, New Jersey and California were the worst.
The study, conducted by the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, looked at COVID deaths, state economies and impact on education and came up with a “report card” that showed the states with the most restrictive pandemic rules ended up at the bottom of the scale.
“Shutting down their economies and schools was by far the biggest mistake governors and state officials made during COVID, particularly in blue states,” Stephen Moore, one of the study’s authors and co-founder of the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, told the New York Post.
Utah, Nebraska and Vermont also topped the list.
