Biden Appoints Middle East Policy Adviser to US Institute of Peace

President Biden has appointed a U.S. policy adviser on Middle East affairs to the board of directors for the United States Institute of Peace. Michael K. Singh has concentrated on Syria and currently is co-chair of the congressionally-mandated Syria Study Group.

According to his bio at The Washington Institute, Singh also serves as senior adviser at WestExec Advisors, which provides advice to private clients on international public policy and political risk. He is also a member of the Welcome Council of Welcome.US, a national initiative to support refugees co-chaired by former Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama, among others.

Under President Obama, Singh “was responsible for devising and coordinating U.S. national security policy toward the region stretching from Morocco to Iran, with a particular emphasis on Iran’s nuclear and regional activities.”
