As expected, the U.S. FDA has approved booster shots for children ages 5 to 11. According to The New York Times, the CDC is expected to recommend the boosters during a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) Thursday, May 19, 2022.
There’s only one problem, the Times says: Parents are increasingly reluctant to give their children COVID shots, so the uptake is not as high as authorities would like — only 29% of 5- to 11-year-olds have received two doses.
