Unabated looting at Target stores has gotten so bad that it’s cost the retail giant $400 million just this year alone, according to CFO Michael Fiddelke. A Target spokesman called the thefts “organized retail crime.”
In response, the stores are taking steps to stop the thefts. Unfortunately, Target isn’t the only store being slammed by theft. Many big retailers have been suffering similarly in the past 12 to 18 months.
According to Yahoo! Finance, “Goods stolen from stores increased to $94.5 billion in losses in 2021, up from $90.8 billion in 2020,” with both in-store and e-commerce.
