Study Finds Higher Doses of Vitamin D Reduce Afib Risk

Taking higher-than-recommended vitamin D doses for five years lowered the risks of atrial fibrillation in older men and women, a Finnish study has found.

The study took place from 2012 to 2018, with the goal of learning whether there is any correlation of supplementing with vitamin D and the prevalence of cardiovascular illnesses and malignancies, ThePrint reported.

It was a placebo-controlled study, with three groups taking the placebo, 1,600 IUs a day of vitamin D or 3,200 IUs of vitamin D. All were allowed to choose whether to also take 800 IUs of vitamin D on their own.
