The research, published in the Journal of Translational Medicine, uses advanced 3D Genomics technology to spot unique DNA folding patterns in blood cells. These folds act like genetic switches that turn certain genes on or off. In people with chronic fatigue syndrome, the team found a distinct DNA signature not seen in healthy individuals.
Experts believe the discovery could do more than confirm diagnosis. The test may reveal how immune and inflammation pathways are disrupted, leading to better treatment options. Larger studies are still needed, but if confirmed, this simple blood test could finally help validate one of the most misunderstood conditions in modern medicine.
