Tea has been used as a medicinal drink for centuries, and new research continues to show why. Green tea in particular supports healthy blood pressure, better cholesterol levels and long-term heart health. Studies also link regular tea drinking to lower risks of obesity, diabetes and several types of cancer, making it one of the most protective beverages you can include in your daily routine.
Tea may also support healthy aging. Research shows that people who drink tea regularly tend to have better cognitive performance, fewer signs of neurodegeneration and stronger muscles later in life. Catechin-rich teas appear to help maintain strength, preserve metabolic flexibility and protect systems that often decline as we age.
Not all tea products offer these benefits. Bottled teas, bubble teas and sweetened commercial drinks often contain sugars, artificial sweeteners and preservatives that can cancel out the positive effects of real brewed tea. Long-term heavy use may also increase exposure to pesticide residues or microplastics. For most people, moderate amounts of freshly brewed tea remain the safest and most effective way to gain tea’s heart, metabolic and brain benefits.
