More than 650,000 bottled water containers have been recalled after regulators found the products were packaged under unsanitary conditions. The recall involves several bottled water products sold under the Valley Springs brand, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The affected products include one-gallon and 2.5-gallon containers of Valley Springs natural bottled water, distilled water and specialty waters, including products marketed for infants and pets. In total, 651,148 bottles were recalled after the company discovered the sanitation issue during production. The products were distributed in Illinois and Wisconsin.
The FDA classified the recall as Class II, meaning the risk of serious health consequences is considered low but temporary or reversible health effects could still occur. Consumers who purchased the affected products are advised not to drink the water and instead discard the bottles or return them to the place of purchase.
