A new review reinforces those benefits, linking regular tea consumption to improved heart health, healthier metabolism, better cognitive function and a lower risk of several chronic diseases. But researchers say one important detail is often overlooked: how your tea is prepared may determine whether you're getting those benefits in the first place.
Freshly brewed tea consistently provided the greatest health advantages, particularly green tea, thanks to its naturally occurring catechins and other beneficial antioxidants. In contrast, many bottled and bubble teas contain added sugars, artificial sweeteners, preservatives and other highly processed ingredients that may diminish or even outweigh tea's natural health-promoting properties.
