By a 7-1 vote, the Colorado Board of Health has approved a plan that would require health care workers to receive flu shots. The plan will be phased in over 3 years.
The plan sparked a debate about civil rights at the state capital. Bonnie Guzman, a Denver nurse, insisted vaccinations should be a matter of choice, saying, “I see this as a violation of my civil liberty and religious expression, to have this forced upon me.”
CBS Denver reports:
“Not all hospitals are in favor of the plan. Hospital volunteers are exempt from the rule.”
