Male breast cancer is on the rise in the United States, which is bad news for men and their doctors, who do not even know to look for it. Breast cancer in men is still rare--just 1,600 cases are predicted for 2004--but the 25 percent increase in 25 years is a substantial rise. The increase could be due to any number of factors including:
- Obesity
- Environmental chemicals
- Changes in lifestyle
As I wrote in 2000, frequent exposure to gasoline also increases the risk of breast cancer in men (and women).
