The U.S. Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health
Administration has issued new guidelines on mask-wearing and other
COVID-19-related questions regarding employees. Bloomberg Law first reported on
it July 30, 2020, when the news agency first noticed that OSHA had deleted its
old guidelines.
The next day, July 31, 2020, Bloomberg Law said OSHA had
posted new guidelines, which OSHA said were redone to “clarify” the former rules.
Many employees had argued that masks restrict their oxygen intake and force
them to breathe dangerous levels of carbon dioxide.
But OSHA’s new guidelines say “wearing masks doesn’t violate
federal rules protecting workers from dangerous gas levels or other airborne
contaminates.”
