The CDC has revised its mask advisory, now saying that if you’re fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you can shed your masks in some situations, but not in others. You don’t need to wear masks outdoors by yourself, in small groups, when dining outside or when biking or running.
On the other hand, you still have to wear masks outside in “large public spaces” such as outdoor performances or sports events, as well as in shopping malls and theaters. Social distancing of 6 feet is still important, too, in these situations.
For the unvaccinated, no rules have changed. Masking and social distancing are still necessary, the CDC says.
The one thing the CDC didn’t announce is how to tell who’s vaccinated and who isn’t when you’re outside and not wearing masks.
