Caffeine pouches are emerging as a fast alternative to coffee and energy drinks. Placed between the cheek and gum, they deliver up to 200 milligrams of caffeine directly into the bloodstream — roughly twice the amount in a typical cup of coffee.
While the quick boost may be appealing, experts warn the high dose and rapid absorption can trigger side effects. These include jitters, anxiety, headaches, stomach upset, and sleep problems. Using multiple pouches makes it easy to exceed the safe daily limit of 400 milligrams and can lead to tolerance and withdrawal.
Doctors advise caution, especially for children, pregnant women, and people with heart, nerve, or sleep conditions. For healthy adults, occasional use may be fine — but experts say it’s best not to rely on them daily.
