Mercury-Free Dentistry for All — Not Just for Some

Mercury-based dental fillings are rapidly disappearing, but the fight to eliminate them isn’t over. Consumers for Dental Choice has spent years pushing dentistry toward safer, mercury-free alternatives, helping drive major changes in the U.S. and around the world. The Indian Health Service has announced plans to end the use of mercury-containing amalgam in its facilities by 2027, while the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently urged state Medicaid programs to phase out coverage for amalgam.

The problem is that not everyone has the freedom to choose. Mercury fillings are still used in government programs serving military personnel, institutionalized individuals and lower-income families. Meanwhile, momentum continues to build elsewhere. Europe has banned amalgam, major U.S. dental manufacturers have stopped producing it, and a 2025 international agreement established 2034 as the global phaseout date for the manufacture, import and export of dental amalgam, with limited exemptions.

Now is the time to help finish what we started. During the 16th annual Mercury-Free Dentistry Week, Aug. 17 through 23, 2026, Dr. Mercola will match every donation to Consumers for Dental Choice dollar for dollar, up to $150,000.

Your support can help expand the fight for mercury-free dentistry so that safer dental care isn’t determined by your income, insurance or government program. Donate during Mercury-Free Dentistry Week and your contribution will have twice the impact toward making mercury-free dentistry available to everyone.
